$900 vs $1,380
per year for five users on annual billing: Tango Pro at $15/user versus Scribe Pro Team at $23/user
Source: Tango pricing5 workflows
is the cap on Tango’s free plan; Scribe’s free Basic plan is limited to web apps and, per its plan table, excludes unlimited guide creation
Source: Tango pricingScribe and Tango solve the same problem the same way: a browser extension records the clicks while you complete a task, and the tool turns them into a numbered guide with screenshots. [1] [3] If you are choosing between them, the product demo will look nearly identical. The decision comes down to pricing structure, plan limits and a few features.
This comparison uses each vendor’s own pricing page, checked on October 10, 2026. Both vendors change plans often, so treat the numbers as a dated snapshot and confirm before you buy.
One point up front: if what you actually need is a video rather than a document, neither tool is built around that, and the last section covers when to look elsewhere.
Quick answer
Pick Tango if you are a small team or a team of three or more that wants the lower per-seat price, or if in-app guidance matters (on its Enterprise plan). Pick Scribe if you need broad enterprise governance, or want Confluence and API integrations. For a team of five on annual billing, Tango Pro is $900 a year and Scribe Pro Team is $1,380 at the $23 seat price.

Tango is cheaper at each size on list price. Whether that matters depends on what is gated: Tango places Guide Me, Pins and Automations on Enterprise, while Scribe’s Pro plans include desktop capture and Autocapture. Price the features you will actually use, not the headline seat rate.
Where the real differences are
Free plans differ in what they limit. Scribe Basic is restricted to web apps with link and embed sharing, and Scribe’s plan table lists unlimited guide creation as a paid-plan feature. Tango Free allows five shared workflows with browser capture. [1] [3] Both free plans are best treated as trials: enough to test your own workflow, not enough to run a help center.
Team pricing favors Tango. Scribe requires five seats to use Pro Team, and every member of the team becomes a paid seat. Tango’s Pro drops to $15 per user for three or more people and has no minimum. For a two-person team, Scribe Pro Personal is $600 a year against Tango’s $528, so the gap is small. It widens as the team grows.
Guidance after publishing is Tango’s angle. Tango’s Guide Me and Pins put instructions inside the software where the employee is working. They are listed under Enterprise, so verify that before assuming Pro includes them. [1] Scribe leans toward governance: automatic PII and PHI redaction, SAML/SCIM, role-based access, translation and integrations such as Confluence. [3]
Both still start with a person. In either tool, someone performs the workflow once so the extension can capture it, and does it again when the interface changes. That is fine for stable internal procedures and a poor fit for a product that ships weekly.
Which one should you pick?
A team of three to four, watching cost
Lower per-seat price and no seat minimum. Check whether you need any feature that sits on Enterprise.
A team of five or more with governance needs
PII and PHI redaction, SAML/SCIM and Confluence integration make it easier to approve in a larger organization, at a higher seat price.
Testing on a free plan first
Both free plans cover web apps in the browser. Try your real workflow on each before paying; Tango Free stops at five shared workflows.
Help inside the software, not in a separate doc
Guide Me and Pins are built for this, on its Enterprise plan.
You need a narrated video, not a document
Both produce guides from a workflow you perform. For video, see our guides to Tango alternatives and Scribe alternatives, including tools that generate the video without any recording.
When neither Scribe nor Tango is the right tool
If your audience wants to watch rather than read, a screenshot guide is the wrong output however good the tool is. A customer meeting a new feature often follows a short narrated walkthrough faster than a twelve-step document.
Bingeable takes a different route to that output. You give it a product URL and a sentence describing the task, and an AI agent performs the workflow in a live browser and returns a narrated, captioned video, so nobody has to record it. It is not a replacement for searchable SOPs, and we would not suggest it for that. For tutorials that customers watch, it removes the recording step both tools above still need. [4]
Our guides cover the wider field: the best Tango alternatives and the best Scribe alternatives, with verified pricing for each. If you are weighing Scribe against a recorder or a video tool instead, see Scribe vs Loom and Guidde vs Scribe.

Final verdict
On list price, Tango is cheaper at every team size we checked, and its in-app guidance is a real differentiator if you are on Enterprise. Scribe earns its higher seat price with desktop and mobile capture on paid plans and stronger enterprise governance and integrations.
Pick on the features you will use, then re-check both pricing pages, because both change them often. And if the thing you are really missing is video, no seat price will fix that.
