Synthesia vs HeyGen in 2026: Pricing, Plans, Seats and Which to Pick

Both turn a script into a video presented by an AI avatar. For most buyers the decision comes down to seats: HeyGen sells extra seats self-serve, while Synthesia keeps multiple editors on Enterprise.

Synthesia and HeyGen are the two best-known AI avatar video platforms. You write or paste a script, choose an avatar and a voice, and get a video of a presenter speaking it. Both offer translation, custom avatars and an API. [1] [2]

The plans differ in three ways that matter more than the headline price: how many people can edit on a self-serve plan, which tier unlocks SCORM export and SSO, and how each plan's credits scale. The two companies' credits are different units, so compare plans by what they unlock, not by credit counts.

Prices were read from both pricing pages on October 26, 2026. Synthesia shows different prices by country; we use its US price card, explained in our Synthesia pricing breakdown. HeyGen showed USD prices from our location.

Quick answer

Pick HeyGen if several people need to make videos or you need SCORM or SSO without an enterprise contract: HeyGen Business is $119 a month billed yearly plus $20 per extra seat. Pick Synthesia if one person makes the videos and you want the cheapest entry plan (Starter is $14 a month billed yearly in its US price card), or if you are buying an enterprise contract anyway. Neither shows your actual software.

Where the real differences are

Seats. Synthesia's Starter and Pro include one editor, with three or five guests who can review. A second editor means Enterprise. HeyGen's Business plan adds seats at $20 each a month, so a small team can share a self-serve plan. [1] [2]

Compliance and LMS features. HeyGen lists SAML/SSO, SCORM export, a team workspace and interactive video from Business. Synthesia lists SSO, SCORM export, brand kits, one-click translation and live collaboration under Enterprise. If you publish to an LMS without an enterprise contract, HeyGen gets you there sooner. [1] [2]

Entry price. On Synthesia's US price card, Starter is $14 a month billed yearly, below HeyGen Creator at $24. Outside the US, Synthesia showed us $18 for the same plan, so check from your own country. [1]

Free plans. Both are trials: Synthesia's has no MP4 download, and HeyGen's caps videos at one minute. Both add a watermark. [1] [2]

Neither

When neither is the right tool

Avatar videos are good for training talks, announcements and explainers. For a software tutorial, viewers need to see the real interface doing the real task, which neither tool records for you.

Bingeable does that part: you give it a product URL and a sentence, and an AI agent performs the workflow in a real browser and returns a narrated, captioned tutorial, with your own digital twin as presenter if you want one. Bingeable starts free for your first tutorial; Starter is $39 per month billed annually ($49 monthly) and Growth is $149 per month billed annually ($179 monthly). [3]

Frequently asked questions

  • It depends on your team. HeyGen suits small teams that need several seats, SCORM or SSO on a self-serve plan, through HeyGen Business. Synthesia suits a single creator who wants the lowest entry price, or companies buying an enterprise contract. Both make AI avatar videos from a script.
  • On Synthesia's US price card, its Starter plan is $14 a month billed yearly, against $24 for HeyGen Creator. Synthesia shows different prices by country, and its multi-editor plans are Enterprise-only, so a team may pay less on HeyGen Business.
  • As of October 26, 2026, HeyGen is free for 1 to 3 one-minute videos a month, depending on region, with a watermark. Creator is $29 a month or $24 billed yearly, Pro starts at $49 a month or $41 billed yearly for 1,000 credits, and Business is $149 a month or $119 billed yearly plus $20 per seat. Enterprise is custom.
  • HeyGen lists SCORM export from its Business plan. Synthesia lists SCORM export on its Enterprise plan.
  • Not as their core feature. Both present a script with an AI avatar. To get a tutorial of your real product, record your screen, or use a tool like Bingeable, whose AI agent performs the workflow in a real browser and narrates it.

Final verdict

For one person, Synthesia's Starter is the cheaper way in, at least in the US. For a team, HeyGen's self-serve seats and Business-level SCORM and SSO usually win. Check both prices from your own country, and remember that neither shows your product's interface.
